Design Brief & Overview
- Creating an unobtrusive external and internal glazing solution for the cafe and dining area.
- The design needed to make the most of the outlook on to the river and walkway outside.
- The architects were also keen that the restaurant be connected both spatially and architecturally with the foyer and auditorium at the heart of the building and used glass to assist this.
- Developed to a BREEAM Excellent rating, the development won the 2015 RIBA London Award for sustainability.
- Frameless glass that provides and uninterrupted view ensuring the feeling of space remains.
- Concealed mechanisms to provide a sleek, clean and modern look that aligned with the rest of the refurbishment.
The doors allow access to the building by wheelchair, thereby helping to ensure compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act and its requirement for equal access for everyone.
- A café entrance screen and entrance doors all in same plane and utilising a frameless hermetically sealed double glazed system form a key element of the prestigious installation.
- A range of internal fixed, sliding, folding, stacking, manual or fully automatic glass screens together with automatic and manual frameless glass swing doors with concealed swing operator complete the project.
